The palace is not too easy to find, as it is quite a ways from the main autoroute and difficult to see from a ways away.
So where is it? Southeast France (more east than south). Take the A7 autoroute to D 51 (east), between Valence and Lyon / Vienne. You can also take the A7 to D 519 (east) to D 538 (south). The official web site says to get off the A7 at Chanas and Tain l'Hermitage, both of which seem further than the other roads. In any case, it is in the village of Hauterives, in an area called Drome. You'll have to get the rest of the way yourselves, because we got a bit lost. However, the locals are quite nice, and if you are lucky you will find an excellent place to have escargot for breakfast.
